Multigrain Chocolate Milkshake

Finger Millet, also known as Ragi or Nachi is considered one of the most nutritious cereals. Ragi is a rich source of Calcium, Iron, Protein, Fiber and other minerals. The cereal has a low-fat content and contains mainly unsaturated fat. It is easy to digest and does not contain gluten; people who are sensitive to gluten can easily consume Finger Millet. When Ragi is mixed with Wheat, Red boil rice, Sabudana, Corn, Barley, Green gram dal, Black Chana, Badam(Almond), Walnuts, Pistachio, Black Pepper, Aajwain, Zeera and Dry Ginger it makes a wholesome meal.

Multigrain Ragi porridge is a very nutritious baby food. My son enjoyed the Salted Porridge every day as a meal until the age of 4 yrs. But now that he is grown up, also have changed his likes and dislikes. This was a hit at his nutrition ,so thought of adding Multigrain to his favourite Chocolate Milk shake.

Multigrain Chocolate Milk shake is one of the best ways to add these nutritious grains to our diet. It can be served in the morning at the breakfast table or as a refreshing energy treat after school or work. In this recipe this Multigrain mix is already dry roasted to remove the raw taste and then as we do for porridge, milk is added to this mix and cooked. I have added chocolate powder (even chocolate syrup can be used) to the milk before adding it to the Multigrain mix. The whole mixture is cooked nicely until a solid liquid is formed.


  • 3 spoon Multigrain mix
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate powder (chocolate syrup)
  • 2 cups Milk 
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
  • Brown Sugar as per taste


  • Mix the Cocoa powder in 1/2 cup milk and set aside.
  • Add the Cocoa powder and milk mixture to this multigrain mix and stir very well, making sure no lumps are left and keep mixing it till no lumps found to avoid the mixture from burning. Cook on low flame until we get a semi solid liquid.
  • Put off the flame and let this porridge cool down. Now in a blender, blend remaining chilled milk, Sugar, Vanilla extract and this Ragi Cocoa liquid porridge
  • Add some Chocolate chips while serving the Multigrain Chocolate Milk shake. Enjoy this healthy Chocliciuos treat with loved ones!!!
